Accessing chiropractic treatment through DVA is straightforward.
Obtain a Referral
Before starting treatment, you’ll need a valid referral from an approved medical practitioner. This may include your:
- General Practitioner (GP)
- Medical specialist
- Treating hospital doctor
- Hospital discharge planner
Your referral allows your chiropractor to provide treatment under a DVA Allied Health Treatment Cycle.

Understanding the DVA Treatment Cycle
DVA chiropractic services are provided under an Allied Health Treatment Cycle.
A referral generally allows for up to 12 chiropractic consultations or 12 months of care, whichever occurs first. If ongoing treatment is clinically appropriate, your GP can provide a new referral for a further treatment cycle.
Your chiropractor will regularly review your progress to ensure treatment remains appropriate and aligned with your goals.
